Bolton College ESOL Department
ESOL Classes
- Full time ESOL Foundation courses for 16-18-year-olds - ESOL, IT, Numeracy, enrichment activities and much more.
- ESOL classes for adults 19+ at different levels – Pre-Entry, Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1 classes at the 3 places below:
Adult ESOL courses are part time 3 – 4.5 hours per week: mornings, afternoons and evenings. These classes are very busy, and a waiting list is in place for some classes. Classes are available at Bolton College, Deane Road and our Community Learning Centres.

Workers' Educational Association (WEA)
ESOL Classes
- Classes available for ESOL students from Pre-Entry – Level 2 who fulfil the usual eligibility requirement regarding status in the UK.
- Courses are free to students in receipt of benefits or who are economically inactive, or charged at £3.50 per hour.
Assessment required – please enquire using the information below
- All modes (Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing)
- Classes run at a minimum of 2 sessions per week and 4 sessions per week – minimum 5 hours and maximum 12 hours
- Courses are accredited by City &Guilds, with individual awards for the Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing units offered from Entry 1 – Level 1/Level 2.
- Class locations: all currently online
- Classes are Monday to Friday 9.30-12.00 or 12.30 -3.00 on Zoom.
Some evening classes available.
The WEA also offer some non-exam ESOL for new groups and those progressing between levels.
Other provision
- Functional skills Maths & English;
- Community Interpreting Level 2;
- Helping in Schools Level 2 courses.
These are based on the demands of our local community partnerships.
