Find out about support to get online and stay healthy this Digitober. Plus win a Dell Inspiron laptop!

 

 

 

This year as part of Get Online Week 14-20 October and Digitober, we're highlighting support available in Bolton to help you get online and become confident in the use of a range of devices from smartphones to laptops.

There's a wide range of free digital support available at libraries accross Bolton including digital skills one to ones, Tea and t'internet digital drop ins, data, calls and texts SIM cards via the Greater Manchester Databank* and laptop loans.

We have two exciting events and the chance to win a Dell Inspiron Laptop during Get Online Week:

Digital Wellness Day - Bolton Central Library 17 October, 2pm-4pm

This Get Online Week, we are focusing on health and digital at an event at Bolton Central Library on 17th October 2pm-4pm. There will be providers on hand including NHS, Public Health and Age UK to show you how to access health services online, saving you time and money and use a range of apps and resources to stay well.

The session will include:

  • ‘Take a break and practice mindfulness’ using a Virtual Reality headset
  • Getting online with free SIM cards and digital skills training
  • Using the NHS app to manage GP appointments and prescriptions
  • Accessing the Libraries Borrowbox, ebook, and audiobook download service
  • Free entry into the Digitober Trail competition to win a DELL Inspiron laptop

Enter the Bolton Digitober Trail and win a laptop! 

Would you like the chance to win a brand new Dell Inspiron laptop worth over £300? Join the Digitober trail and explore Bolton to find out about the range of support available to help you get online and learn digital skills! 

To enter, simply collect an entry sheet from your local library or download and print here, visit 4 of the locations listed on the entry form, scan the QR code and make a note of the fact revealed on your entry sheet. Submit your answers by completing the online form which can be accessed using the QR code on the entry form.

Digital Family Fun Day - Bolton Central Library 19 October 11am-3pm

Join Computer Xplorers for a day of digital fun for all the family! Get creative with digital and make and play fun games:

  • Make and programme a LEGO robot
  • Create a 'Keepy Uppy' game using augmented reality
  • Join the Minecraft challenge 
  • Make a game with Edison robots

There's no need to book, just turn up. The Digital, Employment and Skills team will be on hand to chat about our range of digital support for adults. You will also have the chance to find out more about the Bolton Library Service's free Borrowbox ebook and audiobook download service!
