On the 8 and 9 September the new Digital, Employment and Skills team hosted Bolton’s Learning and Employment Fair on Victoria Square.

The Fair launched the new DES team and their website www.boltondes.co.uk and showcased the many amazing digital and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) skills, learning and employment opportunities available to them in Bolton. The newly formed team includes; Jen Rudd -Digital Skills Navigator, Joanne Draper-Employment Skills Navigator and Martine Royal, ESOL Skills navigator.

There was a great buzz at the event with over 25 different organisations in attendance including Bolton College, Bolton Library and Museum Services, The University of Bolton, Department for Work and Pensions, Workers Educational Association, Business Bolton, BWFC in the community and Bolton CVS.

Kickstart employers were on hand to interview young people aged 16-24 and the bell rang numerous times for successful candidates! Kickstart is a government funded 6-month placement for young people on Universal Credit and has helped thousands back into work following the onset of the pandemic.
